Summary:
"The final chapter of my book, Author Unknown, tells the story of how the historical and linguistic evidence snapped into place, piece by piece, confirming the testimony of Major Henry's own children that their father was indeed the original author of The Night Before Christmas. But I uncovered no "smoking gun," only a pipe-smoking Santa featured in a poem whose language and sources match those of Henry Livingston while seeming impossibly discrepant from the tediously pious verse of Clement Clark Moore."--Foreward. A comparison of lines from the poem with the poetry and writings of Henry Livingston, Jr.
