Review:
An eclectic group of letters related to the personal and public life of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Most items are typewritten letters signed by Roosevelt. This collection includes correspondence between Roosevelt and former State Historian, Alexander C. Flick, regarding a project to publish the records of the town of Hyde Park, New York. Roosevelt was Town Historian during the 1920s. The establishment of a health resort at Warm Springs, Georgia is another prominent topic of several letters here, particulary those addressed to Basil O"Connor. Lastly, there are a few items concerned with state and federal politics.
Abstract:
This collection also includes six handwritten letters of his mother, Sara Delano Roosevelt. Her letters were addressed to the wife and daughter of Baron Quaranta de San Severino, an Italian diplomat at Adalia, Turkey. The content concerns personal and family matters. Lastly this collection includes a letter of Eleanor Roosevelt to Ms. Fannie Simon, regarding employment of spouses of U.S. Foreign Service officers.
