Historical/biog note:
Orin Deloss Lowe (1840-1897) enlisted in the military on August 9, 1862 at Clayton, New York. He was a member of Company B, Second Battalion, Black River Artillery (later Company G, 10th New York Artillery) and mustered in as a private on September 11, 1862, to serve three years. He was stationed for a time in Washington D.C. Deloss survived the war and was mustered out on 19 July 1865; Other family members include Alfred D. Lowe (1850-?) and Frank D. Lowe (1862-1948).
Review:
This collection consist chiefly of correspondence, financial papers, and genealogical research materials related to the Lowe family of Clayton (Jefferson County), New York.. Included, are a few Civil War letters of Orin Deloss Lowe and others. This small collection also contains mainly postcards, both as correspondence and as souvenir items. There are also a few letters, a souvenir coaster, and a booklet of bank loan payment stubs. Many items relate to New York World's Fair, 1939-1940.
