Review:
Papers related to archaeological excavations and research of General John Burgoyne's campaign in 1777 at Fort Ticonderoga (N.Y.) and Mount Independence (Vt.) with an emphasis on the Hessian mercenary troops enlisted to fight on behalf of the British in the American Revolutionary War. This research, titled the German Auxiliaries Project, looked at archaeological evidence, examined military documents, analyzed the topography of the area, interviewed local property owners, and examined objects in collections to trace the encampment and movements of the German troops.
