Historical/biog note:
Franklin T. Becker (ca. 1866-1953) was a building contractor in Schenectady, New York. Becker married Alice Duane Stevens Becker and they had one daughter, Helen Louise, born circa 1905. Alice Becker died sometime between 1918 and 1920. Della Relyea (ca. 1874-1956) was a boarder in the Becker home in Schenectady, and a teacher in the Schenectady district for many years. Della Relyea and Helen Becker moved to Relyea family home in Slingerlands, (Town of New Scotland, Albany County), New York during the 1930s. Franklin Becker joined them around 1945. Helen Becker continued to reside in the Relyea house until 1983. The Raynesford family members were apparently relatives of Della Relyea.
Review:
The Relyea-Raynesford-Becker family papers consist chiefly of letters sent to Franklin Becker, Helen Becker, and Della Relyea from family, friends, and relatives. The content of the letters tends to be personal in nature, concerning routine matters of everyday life such as family news, weather, health, travel, shopping, and social visits with friends and relatives. The papers also include pocket diaries, photographs, and newspapers clippings.
