Review:
This collection consists of unused certificates, coupons, and stamps issued by the United States Government Office of Price Administration (OPA) on certain goods that were rationed during World War II. Most of these items were from a special set assembled by the Library of Congress after the war that was distributed to select libraries, archives, and historical repositories for the explicit purpose of documenting the rationing program that was implemented during the war to ensure adequate supplies were available primarily for the military. The special set distributed by the Library of Congress also included the pamphlet entitled "Rationing in World War II" that provides detailed summary of the rationing program and the various document found in this collection. Goods rationed during the war included sugar, meats, gasoline, fuel oil, tires, and shoes.
