Historical/biog note:
The New York State Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage actively participated in the campaign that help defeat a statewide ballot measure in 1915 that would have granted full voting rights to women. In 1917, Amendment 1, granting woman full suffrage, was narrowly approved by the voters of New York State. This event was significant to the eventual passage and ratifications of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
Review:
This collection consists primarily of broadsides, clippings, and pamphlets produced by Anti-suffrage organizations throughout the country. There are a few materials put out by the Pro-suffrage movement. Much of this literature relates to New York State ballot measures in 1915 and 1917 relative to woman suffrage.
