These papers consists chiefly of correspondence related to Judge Irving Vann's career in New York State politics and government. His correspondents included a number of prominent individuals in state and federal politics and government in late 19th century and early 20th century: William Howard Taft, Charles S. Whitman, Charles E. Hughes, Chauncey M. Depew, Frank S. Black, Alton B. Parker, Theodore Roosevelt, and Elihu Root. The letters concern politics, legal, and judicial matters. These papers also include extensive documentation relative to the impeachment of New York State Governor William Sulzer.
